Dead to you by Natallia Clark A girl sat atop a tree She was donned in all black As the casket passed She felt this odd lack It all seemed so perfect The casket looked so light But only she knew None of it was right The Pastor said a prayer All gave their goodbyes Yet it all felt fake They all wondered why Some photos sat beside Of days long gone She stared at them blankly Like it was a con Once the casket lowered And with no one to be seen The girl walked down Face blank like a screen It was her family Her mom, dad, and brother How could they mourn it When they knew her and loved her She was very much alive She stood right there Yet she was quite different Maybe too much to bear Whatever it may be That didn’t bring her pain It was that they could leave It all seemed insane
Yet she still overthought Was it her hair or how she talks But they chose to lose her They chose to walk So a girl sat atop a tree Still donned in black She wondered if someday She will have her life back |
